Grade a blog that’s meant for fun? That’s my question. yeah, I’m actually getting a grade on this. Second semester of my senior year, Taking Journalism. Turns out blogging is journalism. What kind of journalism do I do? It think it’s kinda…a mix of erratic and completely gray. Just…PAINTED GRAY. All over. Don’t even be neat about it :). That’s my journalism.

So what have we to say about hockey today…and that rhymes so well i just found a strange pleasure in it. Well, the semi-finals of the cup have started. And here we decide who will make it to the end. Pittsburgh versus Carolina, and Detroit versus Chicago.

Should we do a breakdown of these mashups? I think we should? PJ&B style.

Pitts and Carolina is actually interesting, in a few ways more than others. This is most interesting because circa 2007, who won it all but Carolina? Circa 2008, who made it to the finals, but Pittsburgh? So you really have two very capable and very eager teams, who’ve had a taste of fame, and just love it. Maybe I shouldn’t really call it fame. Let’s call it, a taste of victory. That’s much more monumental. They’ve tasted it, and it’s like crack. and I really bet it is. You just want more…and more…and more. Let’s be like Montreal! Give a big FUCK YOU to the rest of the league…and win a million and nine times.

I find the mashup between Detroit and Chicago much more interesting. Now, I’m programmed to root for the underdog. Unless I hate them. And I hate chi-town. I really do. And you know what, I probably wouldn’t hate them as much as I do, if soupy wasn’t on the team. And we all know how I feel about the ex Sabre. Didn’t like him with us, and still hate him away from us. (BOO).

Now, the successes of Chi-town are few and far between. The race isn’t nearly as close, competence speaking, as it is between the east coast teams. Chicago’s last cup was in 61, and their last cup appearance, 92. So they’re thirsty. Detroit on the other hand, is big, bad and wins everything all the time, that and they always remind me of Miracle. the 99% (not accurate) russian team that always kick’s people’s asses and dresses up in all red. It really is no surprise to me that the series is up 2-0 Detroit. I have a feeling that this is gonna be a boys-among-men kind of game.

However, Pitts versus Carolinas is gonna be a really fun series. Right now it’s 1-0 Pittsburgh. But that means nothing to me. you have a pig versus a penguin…a pig sits on penguin, penguin has a heart attack and dies. (that might make no sense to anyone who doesn’t know about Stormy or Iceberg) But really. This is so close…It’s gonna drive me crazy, forgetting to tune in.

It’ll be crazy if Pitts and Detroit takes this to the finals again. I’ll be amused there too. Imagine that.

Race to the Playoffs De-railed by De-troit

Yeah, I’m a bit upset about the recent developments happening at the expense of the buffalo sabres. The weekend yeilded a certain heartbreak as the sabres let us down….
Actually, it was nothing more than Busted’s most famous song, Build me up Buttercup.

So yeah…way to bring false hope. Sounds of friday’s win against the caps really gave me a little hope. But then New Jersey…

Not only did we not win…but Zach Parise really pissed me off. Behind the net he ran into Ryan Miller behind the net. I don’t know if anyone remembers this, it’s kind of traumatic for me. Remember a few weeks ago when Fern took the hit behind the net and sprained himself? Uh huh, if anyone touches my Ferny behind the net…even if they don’t break him (which is obviously easy to do because he’s a ferny) then there will be hell to pay…he is a precious fern.

So, yesterday, the Monday night match up between Sabres and Red Wings is always a once-in-a-season occurrence. And usually I am better prepared for it, mainly because i try to imagine how nice Henrik Zetterberg’s ass is beneath his padding. WE KNOW I AM A PUCK BUNNY. But this wasn’t so nice a match up. Up until the end of the second period it was nice…

My favorite game is a 0-0 game…we know this…so when I saw the game carry on this long without scoring, I felt joy…lots of it.
And then the Red Wings scored.
And again
and again
and again
A celebratory honk to the goose, but only one…

There was a massive altercation at the end of the second, with Samuellson from the Wings absolutely wrecking havoc on our team, first by attacking Scottie, and then from a hit to Royo that sent him flying a few good feet. It was nice to see Derek stick up for himself and try to get at the bastard. He never fights, and i know there’s some of a fighter on the inside of my little buddy.

And right after we get a nice power play as a result, Connors slashes and breaks someone’s stick….stupid idiot. I think I’m the only soon-to-be buffalocal who hates Connors.

We still have a CHANCE, overall, but it’s not a very good one
